The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a U.S. labor law designed to " balance the demands of the workplace with the needs of families." The law requires covered employers to provide employees with unpaid leave for qualified medical and family events, which include pregnancy, adoption, placement of a foster child, personal or family illness, or military leave of an employee or family member.

The FMLA allows eligible employees to take up to 12 work weeks of unpaid leave during a 12-month period to focus on major life events. Stipulations for eligible leave include:

  • Minimum 12 months of employment at the business
  • Having worked a minimum of 1,250 hours over the past 12 months
  • Business environment (location) with 50 or more employees within 75 miles

Covered employers must display and keep displayed a poster outlining the key provisions of the FMLA, as well as how to file a complaint. This requirement applies even to businesses without eligible employees.

Poster Features:

  • Multi-colored
  • Size: 11 x 17 inches
  • Lamination: 2-sided for durability and fade resistance
