Start Getting Reimbursement for Bendamustine Injections

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regularly updates the lists of HCPCS codes that are subject to the consolidated billing provision of the skilled nursing facilities (SNF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) and now the latest update this quarter is the addition of HCPCS Level II code J9033 Injection, bendamustine hcl, 1 mg, effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Contractors have been asked to open or process again the claims for J9033 which had the dates of service on or after Jan. 1, 2012 and which had been denied prior to the upcoming Oct. 1 implementation date.
